Guido Tschugg made good use of his insider knowledge, having built the race track in Leogang: The German veteran posted the third-fastest seeding time, made it all the way to the semi finals and went on to secure fifth place by winning the small final.
Quentin Derbier made it to the big final, and after the two top-seeded Czech riders had crashed, the Frenchman seemed on his way to gold. But he got caught by Joost Wichman and then Michal Mechura on the lower sections of the course to finish in third and win the bronze medal.
