The second round of the downhill world cup took place in Fort William this past weekend. Coming to Fort William for years rain gear and umbrellas usually get the top spot in the bags since it‘s no secret that the Scottish weather can be unpredictable. The Scottish highlands lived up to their reputation and everyone was faced with heavy rain showers for four days straight. Soon enough it was obvious that the weekend’s priority was to somehow stay warm and somewhat dry. The race course in Fort William is already the most physically demanding track of the year and adding the weather conditions everyone was preparing for a very tough weekend. Despite the conditions our junior athlete Simon Chapelet, Team PolygonUR, put together a solid run and brought home his best world cup result so far in 9th position. Tracey Hannah could finally leave her #3 behind and finished second which is another great podium result! Her brother Mick Hannah had been struggling the week prior to the world cup with sickness and came in 42nd. Just a few seconds behind his team mate Alexandre Fayolle. Jack Reading left Fort William with a solid 38th place which he was content with considering the really tight times and the conditions. Now it is time to get clean, dry and all ready again for another weekend of racing in Leogang / Austria in just a few days time!
